Taper Bore Sprockets American Standard
Korea Ever-Power American standard taper bore sprockets are manufactured to accept the American split taper bushing series — SH, SK, SF, E, F, J and N — covering shaft diameters from 1/2″ to approximately 4-7/16″ depending on bush size. The split taper bush concept in American standard differs slightly from the European taper lock design: the American split bush (B-066) and QD (quick-disconnect) bushing (B-085) systems are both self-releasing, but the QD type is more widely used in American heavy industry and is the predominant design specified by American OEMs for replacement sprockets.

Taper Bore Sprockets — American Standard
The taper bore sprocket is supplied as a hub only — the split taper or QD bush is ordered separately and provides the shaft grip, keyway and setscrew mechanism. This allows one sprocket to be ordered for multiple shaft sizes by changing the bush, and allows fast on-site shaft removal without a puller. The tooth profile conforms to ANSI B29.1, making these sprockets fully compatible with any American standard roller chain. Cover chain sizes #40 through #100, simplex to triplex.
Material is C45 carbon steel with induction-hardened tooth flanks. Cast iron (G22) variants available for abrasive slow-speed applications — suffix -CI when ordering. For the European taper lock equivalent (1008–5050 bush series), see our European taper bore sprockets. For QD bush sprockets see the B-085 QD range. American Split Taper Bush Size Guide — Shaft Range & Typical Chain Size
American taper bushes are designated by letter codes (SH, SK, SF, E, F, J, N) rather than numeric codes as in the European system. Each letter corresponds to a specific taper diameter and shaft range. Specify the bush code when ordering the sprocket — the hub taper bore is machined to accept that specific bush series.
| Κώδικας Μπους | Min Bore | Max Bore | Bolt Size | Typical Chain / Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SH | ½″ | 1-3/8″ | 5/16-18 UNC | #40, #50 light to medium conveyors |
| SK | ½″ | 1-7/8″ | 3/8-16 UNC | #40, #50, #60 medium drives |
| SF | ½″ | 2-7/16″ | 1/2-13 UNC | #60, #80 heavy industrial |
| E | ¾″ | 2-15/16″ | 5/8-11 UNC | #80, #100 heavy drives |
| F | 1″ | 3-7/16″ | 5/8-11 UNC | #100, #120 very heavy drives |
| J | 1-3/8″ | 3-15/16″ | ¾-10 UNC | #100, #120 large diameter sprockets |
| N | 2″ | 4-7/16″ | 1-8 UNC | #100, #120 maximum hub sprockets |
Split taper and QD bushes are not included with the sprocket. Order bush separately specifying code and bore. The QD (B-085) and split taper (B-066) bush series are not interchangeable — confirm which type your drive uses before ordering the hub.
Taper Bore Sprocket Specifications — #40 through #100
All bores accept American split taper bushing. ANSI B29.1 tooth profile. C45 steel as standard, -CI cast iron on request. Bush sold separately.

North American Heavy Industry
Split taper and QD bushing sprockets are the dominant shaft-mounting method for heavy drives in North American industry — mining, aggregate, steel, paper and chemical plant. The American engineering standard for permanent heavy drives specifies QD or split taper over setscrew bore because of the superior grip and clean removal. Any drive requiring sprocket change more than once a year should use taper or QD bushing mounting.
Korean OEM Heavy Equipment
Large Korean construction and industrial equipment manufacturers export heavily to North America and specify ANSI chain with American-standard taper bushing sprockets for serviceability in the U.S. market. Korea Ever-Power taper bore sprockets in American bush sizes cover the full range of Korean OEM specifications, with the same quality standard as our European range. Agricultural Equipment Service
#40 and #50 American taper bore sprockets on SK and SH bushes are widely used in North American grain handling, feed mill and agricultural conveyor drives. The seasonal nature of agricultural operations makes quick removal during the off-season critical for cleaning and inspection. Split taper bush mounting allows the service dealer to pull every sprocket on a grain elevator in hours rather than days.
