Agricultural Chain - Product Overview
Korea Ever-Power agricultural chains cover the full range of chain types used in harvesting, tillage, and post-harvest handling equipment. Unlike standard industrial roller chains, agricultural chains are designed to operate in abrasive, dusty, and occasionally wet field conditions without continuous lubrication, and to accept soil and crop debris contamination without immediate failure. The designs are heavier than their industrial roller chain equivalents at the same pitch, with larger pins, thicker plates, and wider inner widths suited to the high impact loads generated by crop loading and sudden engagement of drive clutches.
The EP agricultural chain range covers four main series. The CA series (CA550, CA555, CA557, CA620, CA624, CA550V, CA2060H) are the most common chains in combine harvester and forage harvester straw walkers, grain elevators, and header drives. The CC series (CC600, CC1000, CC1200) are used in cotton pickers, large combine feeder house drives, and heavy duty conveying systems. The S series (S32, S42, S45, S51, S52, S55, S62) is an American standard agricultural chain with a figure-8 plate profile providing exceptional resistance to fatigue in fluctuating load conditions. The Corn Head and Specialty chains include corn gathering chains, potato digger chains, and baler knotting chains for specific crop machinery.
EP agricultural chains are manufactured from medium-carbon alloy steel plates heat-treated for hardness and toughness, with case-hardened pins and rollers. The pitch accuracy is maintained within ISO 487 tolerances. Chains are supplied packed in oil for initial protection during storage and shipping. Matching agricultural sprockets in C45 carbon steel or ductile iron with the correct tooth form for each chain series are available on request.

CA Series Agricultural Chain Specifications
Standard: ISO 487 / ASME B29.100. All dimensions in mm. CA series chains use an agricultural-specific tooth form and are not interchangeable with standard roller chain sprockets of the same pitch. Attachment options (K1, K2, A1, A2, G1, G4) available on each size.

Agricultural Chain Attachment Types
Agricultural chains are supplied with or without attachment links. Attachments allow mounting of paddles, flights, conveyor slats, scrapers, or crop-gathering lugs to the chain. The main attachment types available on EP CA and CC series chains are listed below. Attachments can be on one side (K1, A1, G1) or both sides (K2, A2, G4) and can be specified at every link, every second link, or every N links.
K1 / K2 - Extended Pin Attachment
The connecting pin extends beyond the outer plate by a specified length, providing a mounting point for clips, hooks, or wire flights. K1 extends on one side; K2 extends on both sides. Widely used on straw walkers, elevator paddles, and grain auger flights.
A1 / A2 - Bent Attachment Plate
An additional link plate is formed with a 90-degree bend, providing a horizontal ledge or tab for mounting slats, conveyor boards, or crop guides. A1 on one side; A2 on both sides. Standard attachment for many combine harvester grain pan chains.
G1 / G4 - Lug / Cleat Attachment
A solid lug or cleat is welded or forged onto the outer link plate, providing a raised contact surface for moving loose materials. G1 on one side; G4 on both sides. Used on root vegetable harvesters, potato diggers, and bulk conveying elevator chains.
F Type - Flat Top Attachment
The outer link plate top surface is machined flat with drilled and tapped holes for mounting platform sections, wear strips, or flight boards. Used in top-quality combine header chain installations where the flight must be bolted securely without welding.
Applications
Combine Harvester Drives
EP-CA550 and EP-CA555 straw walker chains are the direct replacement for combine harvester straw walker, grain elevator, and grain pan drives in John Deere, CNH (Case IH / New Holland), CLAAS, AGCO (Massey Ferguson / Fendt), and Gleaner combines. The EP part number cross-references to OEM numbers are verified against current OEM service parts catalogues. Both K1 and K2 extended pin attachments are stocked for the most common combine models.
Baler Drives
Square baler and round baler flywheel drives, knotting mechanism drives, and bale ejector chains are subjected to very high instantaneous shock loads during knotting cycles. EP-S55 and EP-CA550 chains are sized to carry these peak loads with the 5:1 safety factor that baler OEMs design to. Replacement knotting mechanism chains for Krone, Claas, New Holland, Hesston, and John Deere balers are cross-referenced in the EP parts database.
Grain Handling Equipment
Grain bucket elevator chains, drag conveyor chains, and auger drive chains for on-farm and commercial grain storage equipment. EP-CA550 and EP-S55 chains with A1 bucket-mounting attachments are stocked for standard 4-inch and 5-inch centre bucket elevator installations from GSI, Sukup, Brock, and Meridian systems, as well as the common 4-bolt and 6-bolt bucket patterns used in export grain terminals.
Root Vegetable Harvesting
Potato digger elevator chains, sugar beet lifter chains, and onion harvester chains experience extreme abrasion and contamination from soil and stone. EP-S42 and EP-S51 chains in heavy-duty versions with bushless or sealed joints are available for high-abrasion environments. The figure-8 plate profile absorbs shocks from stone impact without fatigue cracking. Rod-type attachments for soil separation webs are available in rubber-coated and plain steel versions.
Agricultural Chain Maintenance Guidelines
Agricultural chains operate under much harsher conditions than industrial chains and require specific maintenance practices to achieve full service life.
A
Measure Elongation Before Season
Replace any chain that has exceeded 3% elongation (measured over 10 pitches). A CA550 chain at 10 pitches nominal is 414 mm; replace at 426.4 mm or more. Stretched chains ride up sprocket teeth and cause rapid wear of both chain and sprocket.
B
Clean Before Lubricating
Agricultural chains accumulate soil, chaff, and abrasive material. Lubricating a dirty chain traps abrasives in the joint. Wash the chain with diesel or a degreasing spray, allow to drain, then apply lubricant. Adhesive chain spray that resists fling-off is preferred over drip oil for open agricultural drives.
C
Inspect Attachment Links
Attachment plates and extended pins are the primary failure points in agricultural chains. Check all K1/K2 extended pins for bending or wear, all A1/A2 plates for cracking at the bend radius, and all weld-on lugs for fatigue cracks at the weld toe. Any cracked or bent attachment is immediate cause for replacement.
D
Replace Both Chains Together
Where two chains run in parallel (straw walkers, elevator chains), always replace both chains at the same time. Mixing a new chain with a stretched chain causes uneven load distribution that accelerates failure on the new chain within a few hundred hours.

Related Products - Chains and Matching Sprockets

Every chain in the Korea Ever-Power range has a matching sprocket available through our partner site sprocket-chain.net. Sprockets are manufactured in C45 carbon steel, ductile iron, and case-hardened alloy steel to suit the tooth form geometry of each specific chain series.
